Best Anime Series In This Summer Season

Tantei wa mou Shindeiru is one of the hottest light novel titles at the moment in Japan. For good reason, the series has a rather interesting set up which the title kind of spoils. The main character went into many adventure with the detective but one year has passed since her death at the start of series. The main character retreated to his normal life. 

However, events unfolds  that means he finds himself drawn to his past life which he subconsciously missed. This series is interesting, the characters are interesting each with their own motivations and thoughts and interactions are quite fun and the overall plot whilst a bit cheesy its not bad. And perhaps the biggest edge for this novel is how it can often drifts to the past because it is incredibly important for the plot as the title suggests. 

The studio handling the animation will be Engi, the ones behind the Full Dive VRMMO series from this season. It is overall a new but promising studio and the promotional videos look decent. The director is not too experienced but his past works as episode director seems decent and the rest of the staff is good too. So, I expect this one to play out really well. 

From the author of 'Pandora's Box' now we have The Case Study of Vanitas. This series has a very interesting setting with steam punk setting that is not seen everyday in anime. This in itself should make it catch a few eyes since its an attractive theme alongside a interesting setting of late 19th century European.

The story itself is a mystery at first and foremost with action, adventure and supernatural elements all featuring as well. We follow Noe, vampire that is travelling to study the book of Vanitas and find out its secrets. He soons meets a person named Vanitas that calls himself the owner of the Book of Vanitas. This encounter happens when a vampire starts rampaging and Noe attempts to fight it, until Vanitas is steps in and is able to calm the vampire down with the help of the book. 

Noe and Vanitas through various events end up joining forces to heal more rampaging vampires whilst at the same time becoming more involved with the mystery of the book of Vanitas, the vampires and the world. 

Bones is the studio handling this series, and thats a very good choice. The director Tomoyuki Itamura is very talented, he has been groomed by one of the best directors in Japan Akiyuki Shinbo through his work in the monogatari series. This promising director with a great atmospheric manga and a good studio means this has all the making of a great anime. 

We all wish we could live like a NEET right??? Well Kinja, the main character in The Dungeon of Black Company is finally able to live the NEET life he always wanted. However, he is suddenly transported to another before he is able to really enjoy it... 

In this other world, without money or clothes... he finds having to do breaking labour at a mine for long hours for an exploitative company because he has no other choice, because he knows no one, knows nothing about the world and without any of those things you usually end up  working at a crappy place... This other world feels a lot like our world...

This is the comedy show of the season and it also explores various interesting themes such as exploitation. The studio is Silver Link, the definition of average and staff is likewise average but its a good manga and the promotional video looks good especially the voice actors. 

What if you had the chance to go back 10 years and remake your life? What would you do? Well this series is exactly that ... its not a novel setting and Tokyo Revengers does this but this is a more real story. The main character works at a failing game company, he has not been paid and was evicted from his apartment, the company debts means its forced to close down and unemployed and without money or a place to life,  the main character goes back to his town full of regrets over how his life went. 

However, after sleeping one night, he wakes up 10 years in the past. This time he can try again to makes the decisions that will lead him to the life he always dreamed about. This is a story about retrying from the past and it has romance, comedy and drama elements. Its is overall a interesting series that explores a common setting. 

Studio Feel. will be handling the animation. Its an okay studio with a lot of experience with series of this type but its not a standout choice. The director will be Tomoki Kobayashi, who is experienced, so the series is in good hands there. Nachi Kio, writer of the light novel will be handling the composition, so thats also a positive thing for the series.  Overall, I thing the story is interesting and the anime looks promising.
